Grant Loxton

I am an actor and an English and drama teacher. I have taught in a private school in Sydney, and I now teach and tutor in Australia and overseas, so lessons are scheduled to suit students' time zones.

The work is in the detail: a line read a little differently, a pause held a beat longer.

I hold a film degree and I edit video, so I can draw on recorded work when it helps a student see their own progress.

My Approach

Lessons are one to one and run live, by video or in person where possible. Nothing is pre-recorded and nobody is handed a template.

01

Start with the actual work

The first session begins with the student's own writing, a text they are studying, or a scene they are rehearsing.

02

Keep notes that carry forward

A running record of what we have covered, what has improved and what still needs work.

03

Build confidence through practice

Speaking up, reading aloud and performing are skills. They improve with repetition in a calm setting.

How I Support Your Child

01

Personalised Learning Plan

Every student starts with a plan built from their test results, personal goals and the way they learn best. We review it together as they progress.

02

Structured, Flexible Schedules

Lessons are online and set at regular times that fit around school and family commitments, so progress is steady rather than sporadic.

03

Reports After Every Session

Parents receive a short written update after each lesson: what was covered, how the student went, and what comes next.

04

Support for Additional Needs

Lessons are adapted for students who face particular learning challenges. Pace, format and materials are adjusted in consultation with families, and progress is reviewed regularly.

I also focus on confidence. Students leave each lesson with skills they can use at school and on stage, and with the self-belief to use them.
